A major opportunity
to win some Grant Money between March 15th and 30th!
Our online donation processor, Razoo.com, a non-profit
organization whose mission is to bring Non-Profits and givers together,
has its own March Tournament pitting 64 chosen charities to compete
in 4 regions to reach it's Final Four round-a campaign they call "March
Goodness." This year The Center, one of Syracuse's own, has been
chosen as one of 16 charities in the East Region to compete to reach
Razoo's Final Four round, which will award a grant of $10,000 to the
winner!
We are thrilled and honored that we have been chosen
to compete in Razoo's "March Goodness" Tournament. For donations
to help us win, they need to be made online (follow the "Donate
Now" button), and must be made between March 15th and 30th.
In round one, it is the number of donations determine
the regional winners that move on to the Final Four--but only
one per person counts, so tell everyone you know! We will announce
on this page (in case you don't hear us scream it from the rooftops)
that we are in the Final Four if we win the first round for our region.
The Center started a mere 4 years ago with a simple
idea--TO BRING TOGETHER UNDER ONE ROOF AS MANY OF THE GROUPS IN SYRACUSE,
NY, THAT SHARED THE PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE AGENDA-it has become
a thriving building filled with organizations collaborating for a
more just society. Imagine . . . no more phone tag, waiting
for email replies, or setting up and driving to meetings--just smooth,
efficient organizing!
Not only that, but we are on the verge of paying off
the mortgage on the building we acquired less than 3 years ago. Over
$309,000 has been raised toward the $500,000 budget they realistically
need to fully realize their vision of a modern, green facility, fully
accessible to the handicapped, creating economies of scale for its
resident organizations as well as collaborative work among them.
The Center's most immediate goal is accessibility. The
building needs to be made fully accessible--even some of the resident
organizations hold their public meetings in outside rented spaces
until they can accomplish this. This is a matter of social justice,
not a mere convenience for the few who need it, and the Center is
committed to make it happen.
